How Do I Change A Wifi Password

Note:  Depending on your model, your modem's user interface may appear slightly different from the images beneath.

one.  Connect a device, such as a figurer or tablet, to the internet through WiFi or using an Ethernet cable connected to your modem.

2.  Open a web browser and typehttp://192.168.0.1 into the spider web address field.

iii.  Log in to the modem's settings interface (Modem GUI) using yourAdmin Username and Admin Countersign. Note that these are dissimilar from your wireless network proper name (SSID) and WiFi countersign (security key).

You can observe the Admin Username and Password printed on the sticker fastened to the side, back or bottom of the modem.

The modem sticker shows you TWO important sets of login credentials. How do y'all use each i?

SSID and Key/Wireless Password: Used to access and connect to your WiFi network

  • SSID is the name that volition show upward on your devices in the list of wireless networks (may have two for dual-band modem/routers)
  • Key/Wireless Password is the password y'all will enter on your devices to connect deeply to your network
  • These default settings can also be customized in the modem settings or through the app

Admin Username and Admin Password: Used to log in to your modem settings portal

  • Access secure settings such as firmware updates, WiFi security, schedules, and more
  • When continued to your home network, go to http://192.168.0.1 to access the portal (also called the GUI)
  • These default settings can too be customized in the modem settings

iv. Select the Wireless Setup icon in the principal menu.

five.  If given a choice, select2.4 GHz or5 GHz. If you have both WiFi frequencies enabled, you should echo steps 5-10 to change the WiFi countersign for both networks (you may use the aforementioned countersign for both if yous want). Don't worry if yous don't see the frequency options, every bit non all modems have this feature.

vii.  Select the name of your wireless network (SSID). You can detect the SSID printed on the modem sticker.

viii.  Your Security Type is printed on the modem's sticker.
The Encryption Type should be gear up to "Both."
If prompted to requite the Hallmark Type, cull "Open."

ix.  To change your password, select "Use Custom Security Key/Passphrase" and type in your new countersign.

10.  Select "Utilize" to save your changes, and y'all're done! Call back, you'll need to enter this new password on all of your devices to reconnect to your wireless network.
